I love the rain but what I hate about the Netherlands is the constant depressing drizzle. The rain however, is just lovely :)
Children can dress as both sinterklass and zwart piet though you do see a lot more children who seem to prefer the zwart piet costume. I have seen parades at uni, in the street where the zwart piet were hanging off of buildings.. Moral of the story? When in the Netherlands do not leave your camera at home.

Quite a storm outside, the lightening is golden but its more like lights being turned on far away instead of clear flashes
The tree branches are moving so much that the electric lights seem to flicker like candles.

People may say its racist, at first I thought it was… more than that though I thought it was scary because they do not use eye liner so they have black face painted on but their water line is WHITE. They are also really friendly and hand out candy, that can be misconstrued in so many ways. I think they are dark because they have to go down the chimney to give the gifts, so its all the soot. DUH! look at the size of Sinterklaas he totally cannot do that himself. Maybe its just living here in the Netherlands that has got this tradition to grow on me. :/
